Yeah, but I bet FA finished several strokes ahead of them.

Yeah, but I bet FA finished several strokes ahead of them. It’s how I show I’m a real man.

Saw the overhead shot of the winner of the 1500 freestyle, no other swimmers were even in frame, she was that far ahead

I see the Olympic committee has caved into the ignorent pearl clutching idiots who's lack of education and cultural awareness lead them to think the depiction of Dionysus and the famous painting of the Greek feast of Bacchanal was a mockery of DaVincis last supper.
Idiotic to apologise to appease idiots who missed the point.

You know, I don’t think it’s The Last Supper, which is a painting in Italy done by an Italian when every other piece of art history covered was French. Van Biljert might be Dutch but his Feast Of The Gods is in Dijon and the painting depicts the father of the god of the Seine who was then represented on the metal horse that came next in the ceremony. And it represented traditional pagan gods like, er, hung around on Olympus.
That said, it does look remarkably like the Last Supper, which turns out to be because Van Biljert was referencing The Last Supper. But even if it was The Last Supper it’s some pretty desperate and pathetic pearl clutching. It’s not a pastiche of Jesus, it would have been a pastiche of a 15th century painting.

It all passed me by, I have to say. It sounds rather like the usual juvenile provocation of the flamboyant set trying too hard to be simply outrageous and fabulous.

It does seem to be another case of sh*t losing by the entire left after a couple of Christians complained.

I see that Baloo imagines that everyone is like the sad sacks on the right whose only interest is Pwning Teh Libs so they can show other basement dwelling sad sacks on the internet that they Pwned Teh Lubs even if nobody else notices anything has happened

Can't say I give a toss either way TBH.

Yet that’s what you said. You thought it was provocateurs trying to get a rise even though the other explanation- that it was like all the rest of the ceremony, linking French culture and famous art in France to Paris and the Olympics. Occam, and all that stuff.

Nah, I don't think it was provacateurs as such, just a tedious tendency towards unimaginative theatrically of a somewhat poofy nature. Camp, I suppose.

It’s an Olympic opening ceremony. What do you expect? Do you also think it worth commenting on, say, the cast of a play being full of unnecessary theatricality?

As I said, I wasn't bothered either way, I was simply offering an explanation. Have you found a pube in your croissant this morning?
You're as brittle as a day old baguette.

I think the French should have prioritised cleaning up the Seine before creating a free-for-all between those clutching their handbags and those identifying as clutching their handbags.
