I think they have act surprised, in fact every tax raise by an incoming gov is couched as a suprise, or something regretful. No one gets elected by promising to raise tax to fix problems, even when the problems are as huge and costly as the UK faces now. It appears that Rachel Reeves might actually be right as well as being cynical. Baloo’s claim that they knew the public finances might be mostly right. But the 6.4bn Home Office overspend on hotels owned by friends of the Tories and on flights that didn’t happen was not on the books and nobody knew about it in the public domain. There’s quite a big chunk of change - 100 quid per person - that they have to come up with from somewhere. An overspend is an interesting choice of words. The Tories would counter that this is simply the costs of frustrating their policies to deport failed asylum seekers. Again, it's whiney imagineering by Rachel Greeves.

It occurs to me that the current pregnancy in UK has about it shades of Albert Camus' La Peste.
There you go FA, some light reading for you.

It’s not on the budget. She couldn’t have planned for it. If she needs to raise taxes or cut spending as a result her “I didn’t know it was this bad” was right and your fragile tantrum was based on nothing.

It's not unaccounted for. It can't possibly have been a surprise.

Meanwhile, England burns .... www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cydvr9d0vd3tManchester, London, Hartlepool, Aldershot etc. Starmer had better hope "it's a bit close" tonight or, better still, honking down.

It is funny that when a Welsh-Rwandan stabs kids the idiot right go and attack the police. All this “lawn order” and “support our security services” stuff is about as shallow as can be. Fight the police? Over this? f**k**g wankstains on humanity. It’s the same they bleat that they want to “protect women and girls” while being misogynist every chance they get.

"Axel Muganwa Rudakubana, 17, is charged with three counts of murder, 10 of attempted murder, and one count of possessing a bladed article"
Rudakubana the knife? There's lovely, boyo.

Hang on, I thought that under no circumstances could he ever, ever, ever be named, that it would be massively illegal and that civilisation would collapse the minute he was?

I work with a guy called Axel. He’s French and definitely over 17 though so not him. So I guess the violent rioters will apologise to the mosque they were attacking and now start on the local church? (I am also waiting to hear about his incel activity.)

I see Laurence Fox is being a dick again. I see an anagram of his full name (LAURENCE PAUL FOX) is AXEL FUNERAL COUP - perhaps a headline that the usual gutter press had lined up had their incitement to violence led to a lynching.
