I think Gavin Newsome and Josh Shapiro are two standouts although Newsome will be harmed by his California expletive and Shapiro may be viewed as too pro-Israel to win back Palestine focused democrats.

I like Gavin Newsom a lot - he provokes a lot of ire from right-wing fucktards - but people I've spoken to who have or had connections to San Francisco and Sacramento politics have said that he comes with a lot of dubiousness. Nothing explicit about what that was - although hints that his jolly at the French Laundry during covid were small beer - but there's enough chatter that him being candidate would make me nervous.

I like your optimism, assuming there's going to a 2028 election given Trump has been very open about this being the last election and how he'll just stay on till he dies.
