Drop Spindle

ok shall I get myself a drop spindle and some merino tops and have a go at spinning or not.

I could just stick with the knitting and the dyeing but if I could spin to I could dye my own roving, spin it into yarn then either knit or weave it

Spinning is good exercise Mistress if you don't mind getting all hot and sticky in an enclosed space with quite a few other people .....

........ personally I'd rather do it out in the fresh air.

Sorry Mistress, only teasing.

Can't say I know much about spinning (of the woollen kind) ... I've often looked at spinning wheels and considered it, but don't think I'd have the patience .... all that combing, cleaning, spinning, dying and rolling it into balls or skeins of usable wool.

I knows you was cathy. Spinning wheel is a different kettle of fish. The drop spindle is a very simple little thing - in looks at least - . I would be getting ready to use roving, not carding or combing to do, I doubt with my chest I could work with the fleece straight from the sheep.

So I think of the least expensive root into spinning just in case the fibres do uspset the breathing.
