Check out the Guardian front page (splash page?).
I'm soiling myself with excitement over this. Might see if I can borrow a neighbour's telly to watch it.

great avatar Vox, she looks really pissed off!!
Whats bothering me about all this hysterical swooning is the fact hes african american has totally smothered any questions over whether hes competent to do the job irrespective of race!

I'd expect some kind of, 'What can you do for your country' pattern in his inaugural speech and quite right too.

She wanted to be a first hand witness to history. This is one for the books after all. The video of it will play 50 years from now, just like the JFK speech is replayed now.

BEST DECISION EVA!! Was to fly to the USA for this. Not in Washington but in New York. About to have breakfast then we are hitting Harlem for the activities planned and to watch the swearing in and the inauguration speech.
The atmosphere here is amazing, I wasn't excited but I am now.
My cousin called this morning to wish us happy Barack day. She isn't far from Washington but cannot get there because there are queues to get into the train station for people desperate to go an watch. Her husband can't even get home from work as he cannot get into the train station.
Insane.

I was wondering why you weren't in Grosvenor Square, unclothed.

Why thank you my dear. Hope I can actually get into somewhere and hope I am allowed to have alcohol. The atmosphere on the streets is crazy too. Yesterday I almost slipped on some snow near my great-aunt's place. A man ran to help me and told me I have to be careful and look after myself, as I need to be able to watch the inauguration tomorrow. :-)
Irrespective of whether you were for or against Obama, being here and seeing all the TV specials around this I've finally (yes I'm a little slow) come to realise how much of a historical occasion this is and realise why it's such a big deal to so many Americans.

The tank you was for Mids, not Vike and Fandy.
PS Fox has just informed me that Roosevelt was the only president not sworn in using a bible. Anyone know why?

Barack Day? Has the whole of America become a fcuking live gameshow audience? A black liberal politician is still a fcuking politician. And this one hasn't even moved into his job yet. And already I'm reading about what an amazing speech he is going to have given and how America will soon have been greeting it with wild cheers and brilliant optimism.
Can't they wait for some past tense before making a judgement?

Oh Ricky stop being a party pooper! Irrespective of anything it IS considering US (fairly recent) history quite a big deal.
Fandy, only going by the little byline on Faux News. I may make that my task of the week (after running naked through the streets of Harlem) and find out why that was.
PS queue of people on the Washington Mall thing is said to stretch back for two miles... If I start shouting 'U-S-A, U-S-A' I give you permission to shoot me on my return to the UK.
