My God that's shocking! The boy should've been removed from his mother's care immediately, she's not fit to be called a mother! I see that because the mother pleaded guilty and it was taken into account that she hadn't seen her 3yr old smoke before (although by all accounts he looked like he had smoked before!), she has attended 6 parenting classes after the incident. So she gets to keep her son, heaven knows what she will permit him to do next?! The poor boy has no hope! Wicked woman! All she got was a suspended sentence and a 12month supervision . . . .huh! What about the potential damage to the little boy's lungs as he has smoked before?!

A bit severe there Libby. I caught my son (aged about 8 or 9) pinching one of my ciggies. Kids will copy their parents - it's what they do. But to suggest that this woman should be punished even more severely than she has been seems abit over the top.

I'm not sure Libby was that harsh Beach, the kids was obviously an acomplished smoker and was doing quite openly in front of his mum, sound like she didnt realy care, luckily for the kid the social worker was there, and you've gotta aske why was the social worker involved, there is proberbly more to tnis than just one incident, she's under suspoician as a crappy parent as it is by the looks of things.
Yuo've gotta worry about what future this kids gonna have with a muim like that

But I think there is a difference between an 8yo and a 3yo.
However, the report also says that the mother has made a lot of effort since being charged.

I think it's a bit soon to take the child into care just yet. Give the mother a chance to see how stupid she was and keep an eye on them. Not social services though, they'll just balls it up.

Parents on this very board have stated that it's very hard to get your kids to stop doing something they want to do. We can't expect them to take care of their kids if it means doing hard stuff.

Despite being as rabidly anti-smoking as anyone I know, in isolation there are worse things you can do to a kid so this is hard to get worked up about. Obviously you shouldn't but there are hundreds of kids being sexually abused every day. I'd be pretty surprised if a three year old wasn't put off for life anyway.

I got the Biblical Hebrew as well. Bit weird, with Moses with a long beard and the 10 commandments on one end and a cartoon lady with a headset on the other.
Why did Moses hack all those lines out in stone? He could have memorized them. Kids all over the world have to.
