Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington did lead troops into battle and was Prime Minister but these were many years apart. In the Falklands war, all of the injured were treated in a disused freezer plant Called the "Red and Green Life Machine. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:The_War_Hospital_(Falklands)_Ajax_Bay.jpgI visited it when I was stationed there. Pictures do no easily show how dank and dark it really is.

Number 1, the Taliban are'nt human beings they are sub human as they do not value life and 2 I would'nt take taliban prisoners as they would'nt take our boys prisoner, I would slot the lot of them.

Which is why we have an all volunteer Armed Forces. Thankfully, you would never make it though the selection procedure.
The moment you think as someone as less than human you have already proven you are.

I think it's a great idea. let's hope they actually get to talk to each other and realise that there are human beings on both sides and that all our wars are caused by ideologies - not the poor soldiers on the ground. Beachy, you have certainly given me food for thought! Perhaps i was wrong with my initial assumption, it would be great if what you said could happen. I doubt it though.

Taliban are nothing but parasites on the same level as a mosquito or a wasp, they have nothing to contribute to society, all they have is Allah on their mind 24/7 and want to murder anyone who does not believe in their koranic crap. I value my life where as the do not, that is what makes me human and them sub human.

unfortunately my age prevents me from joining up but there is no better time for joining the army than now as you would get the oppertunity to kill islamic bad guys instead of going around handing out bags of rice to 3rd world countries.

Fortunately the army wouldn't consider any ...person... who wanted to join with that intent. Anyone who did sneek past the recruitmen tphase would be most disappointed to find that, in most parts of the world, including Afghanistan, aiding and co-operating with the local population was a large part of their duties.

Pufferoony I would have no problem aiding and co-operating with locals but in the battlefield taking on the taliban I would not take prisoners and if they were wounded I would finish them off as they would me if they came across me. I have saw footage of taliban getting a 9 year old kid to cut the head off a local afgan who's only crime was he worked with the americans so I would have no probs doing away with taliban

You wouldn't be welcome in the Army. Battlefield deaths are one thing. Slaughter of the wounded would get you an instant court martial and a lengthy term in jail. No question.

Puffters, the killing of unarmed and wounded enemy goes on in all armies to this day and no soldier would betray a fellow soldier by making it public that the british army were killing prisoners or finishing off the wounded. I have heard stories from people who took part in battles including the falklands where prisoners were killed so you would be very naive to think that sort of shiit does'nt go on.

Gort. My husband is a retired career soldier. He's sitting near me at the moment, and we have been digussing this as I type. He assures me that ANY soldier caught killing a prisoner, or injured enemy would face immediate jail and there would be very very few who would condone it.
