Apparently our friends across the pond have the equivalent of our Cup Final on Sunday a thing they call the super bowel for some reason. They have a game loosely like rugby, but played and watched by gay men, they look about the size of Australian prop forwards, but don’t be deceived, it’s all padding, but they play with an egg shaped ball like rugby. The game has a full set of rules, and though no one has ever stayed awake long enough to have them explained fully, the yanks really enjoy it.
As far as anyone can tell the game should last 80 mins, but in practice can last several days and the action (sic) is a succession of short burst of men running in random circles and jumping on each other, this lasts for about 30 secs then that all have a nice sit down for 20 mins to recover while they substitute the whole team, why they swap the whole team is mystery, but perhaps its to do with all that getting jumped on.
Now as the game is nothing more than an endless series of men running randomly in circles getting jumped on, followed by hours and hours of time outs, the real fans have to entertain themselves with endless boring statistics to pass the time, to list them now might be a cure for insomnia, so I’ll pass.
Never the less this sport (sic) will be on what passes for the collective American mind this weekend so good luck to who ever might be playing I’m sure someo0ne we’ve never heard of will win something or other.
