sentry guard at London's St James Palace is facing disciplinary action, after lashing out at a tourist. The traveller was mimicking the guard's walk, when he apparently got a clip around the ears, and a boot in the back-side. The student also claims that the guardsman pushed him with his rifle, and let out a furious roar, according to The Sun. The tourist's friend, who was videoing at the time, told the newspaper, "I just thought 'Oh My God' he's got a gun and he's going for Nick and he grabbed him and tried to boot him and we were so shocked we just ran away fast." "You often see people pulling faces at the guards and standing beside them for photos and marching along with them but obviously this soldier didn't find it funny." St James Palace is one of London's oldest palaces, and is home to the new offices of Princes William and Harry. au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/latest/5278079/guard- lashes-out And to think I tried everything to get one of these fellas to just blink , when all I needed to do was take the piss

Good, silly little tourist s@d. Go to the US and take the piss out of a Marine on duty and see what happens How do you know the guy was from the US? It could have been a kraut or a frog, or any number of nationalities. The Marine in the US would have talked to the tourists though, I imagine they're allowed to. I think that's most of the reason those guards in the UK get harassed, the whole robotic toy soldier routine where they can't talk or react to anybody.

By the way, the prick that was bothering the guard was a Columbian, nada to do with the US, or US tourists.

Just by coincidence, I'm wathing "Grumpy old men" on telly. One suggested that tourists just send us the money, and they stay at home. Sounds good to me

Just as an aside Capt.. re.Rabbie Burns
"What a gift o' God could gie us, to see ourselves as others see us"
I think he was first with that, and is often repeated in differing forms.
It is one of my favorite quotes.

The tourist should be reprimanded not the Guard! What an idiot, he deserved all he got and more! Being British we are proud of our Guards. Normally the Guards don't react at all to tourists however hard they try to distract them, they are a great British institution. The Guard in question was obviously having an off day, i hope they aren't too harsh on him.

We too had a hard time getting a reaction from one of these palace guards, we taunted him with cricket and the then rugby scores, nothing worked. We walked away dejected, until he whistled at us and said with a wink, " Have a nice day, you convict scum rabble" If only we had had our Mobile phone with us to get the soundbite.
