I saw the program last nite on tv. I dont believe the version one guy had that u can catch obesity like a cold. Tho the part where it said some ppl will lose weight then when finineshed the diet their body will try to go back to its normal weights true. Cos as soon as i start eating more i gain weight again so im always on a diet now

Also. None of the ppl in the experiment had massive bellys which was odd concidering the big meals they ate. Also they didnt take into account the actual weight of the food they had eaten all day when they got measured. That must have been about 3 pounds.

yes whilst i do believe that there is a lot of sh*t in food i don't actually believe there is a virus that causes obesity-where was this virus years ago-is it a new virus-highly suspect. including myself, people just eat too much, and processed foods are particularly bad, and lead a sedentary life.

Yeah I heard of this virus, it has a very complicated scientific name, I think it's Latin, the virus is called: lasagnachocolatecake bigmacandfries.

I'm a great believer of everything in moderation! There is no point in living without treats! It's additives that are deadly, far worse than fat and calories. My grandparents cooked in lard (solid animal fat) had a fried breakfast every morning, left the fat on their meat, ate butter, cakes made with butter too, and they both lived until their mid 90's! It's additives and the chemicals which are most damaging and their generation didn't have these.

It's additives and the chemicals which are most damaging and their generation didn't have these. Here's how I do it, 6 days a week I'm on a super strick diet, every meal a chapter out of a sports nutrition text book, absolutely perfect ratio of protein, carbs and only essential fats that are good for you, basically I live on greens and protein. But the 7th day, is eat whatever you want day, on Sundays, it's pizza, chocolate, cheese burgers or whatever else I'm craving, after Sunday it's out of my system, the cravings are gone for the rest of the week (I may even get a little sick of it lol) and Monday back to the good habits. The one day out of the 6 doesn't really negate all the good nutrition of the other 90% of the time, and it allows for fun, for example, this Sunday is SUPERBOWL SUNDAY! Most important day of the year in America, going to a party, will be eating drinking and being merry, with no worry of becoming spherical shaped, because, on Monday, and through the rest of the week I'll be back to fresh vegetables and lean protein.

The question is, how many of those unhappy big people are unhappy because of the continual media and medical pressure?

I do pretty much the same as you NY. During the week i eat smaller portions of lean protein, eat varied veg, nuts and fruits, with fruit juice, milk and water. I do have tea, that's my weakness! No puddings! At the weekend i have lunch out with hubby and a takeaway supper on Saturday, a roast dinner at home on Sunday with pudding. Same sort of philosophy!

You're right tarrant !
Take the recent case of Fern Britton on tv. She was regularly interviewed when she was a size 20+ and she always said she was happy being large. Then lo and behold a news story broke about her being slim and she had secretly had a gastric band fitted. She is now a slimmer size 14 because the gastric band will not allow her to eat much! That's the real reason she is slimmer now.
All the time celebrities make issues of slimming and being anti-fat, it makes it difficult for the ordinary Mr and Mrs Overweight.
