Britain's Surrender London's reaction to the Gaza war shows it is giving up against jihad.Years of demonizing Israel and appeasing Islamist extremism have coalesced in an unprecedented wave of hatred against Israel and a sharp rise in attacks on British Jews.In Britain, the war in Gaza has revealed the extent to which the media, intelligentsia and political class have simply crumbled in the face of the global jihad. The U.K. is a major player in European and world politics and is America's most significant strategic ally. Until now, it has been considered one of Israel's firm supporters and a linchpin of the Western defense against the world-wide Islamist onslaught. With the reaction to Gaza, however, that reputation is no longer sustainable. Years of demonizing Israel and appeasing Islamist extremism within Britain have now coalesced, as a result of the media misrepresentation of the Gaza war as an atrocity against civilians, in an unprecedented wave of hatred against Israel and a sharp rise in attacks on British Jews. Throughout the war, London's streets have witnessed a hallucinatory level of violent and explicit support for Hamas from Muslims, members of the far left and supposedly progressive individuals. Night after night, Israel's embassy in well-to-do Kensington found itself under violent siege. Demonstrators attempted to storm the building, howling their support for the terrorist body whose genocidal intentions toward Israel and the Jews necessarily includes killing every one of the occupants inside. Certainly, there have been anti-Israel protests around the world. But in Britain, not only have these been particularly violent but the authorities have done nothing to stop such incitement of hatred. The police told pro-Israel demonstrators on at least one occasion to put away their Israel flags because they were "inflammatory." Yet officers allowed some anti-Israel demonstrators to scream support for Hamas -- and even to dress up as hook-nosed Jews pretending to drink the blood of Palestinian babies. In general, the police have reacted passively to the violence. One recent video clip captured the astonishing spectacle of Muslims stampeding through London's West End hurling traffic cones and other missiles at the police, all the time shrieking "Allahu akbar" and "cowards." The police ran and stumbled backward rather than standing their ground and stopping the rampage. Continued: online.wsj.com/article/SB123240733254895655.html

Sadly, this phenomenon does not only pertain to Britain. Europe's oldest and most destructive hatred is returning with a vengence. I was shocked to hear reports of a Dutch MP choosing to stay at a rally where protestors chanted "Hamas, Hamas, Hamas" and "Jews to the gas." This is the result of the systematic malignment of Israel, of holding Jews to different standards than non-Jews, and the cynical / completely absurd comparisons between the Israeli-Arab conflict with the Nazi Holocaust. Even on this board, the upsurge of hatred against Jews (masked as "anti-Zionism") by terror enablers have not gone unnoticed. The terrible warning of a Holocaust survivorAt my dinner table on Friday night, a holocaust survivor admits that she is trying to persuade her son to take his family out of Europe to America, Canada, Australia, Canada, Australia, Israel...’They say they can’t leave me, but I tell them: “Go, get out. My parents left my grandparents behind in Berlin and brought me to safety in England. Now I want you to leave so that my grandchildren will be safe.”’ There is an unbearable desperation in her plea. But she has a point. As tens of thousands of demonstrators march through the streets of Europe, the chants are modified but the message remains substantially intact: ‘Hamas, Hamas, Hamas — Jews to the Gas’. Or, more simply: ‘Death to the Jews’. Many European Jews, even well-established, affluent Jews, have been checking the suitcase they keep packed under the bed. They have been here before and many are (albeit reluctantly) reading the writing on the wall. To some extent I thought I was inured. I grew up in postwar apartheid South Africa where a subtle undercurrent of anti-Semitism was a fact of everyday life. So while I was disturbed by manifestations of mob anti-Semitism, I was also less vulnerable to shock. That’s just how people are. Living in genteel, leafy Hampstead Garden Suburb provides an additional layer of protection from such crass outbursts. But my sanguine state ends abruptly when I am out walking on Saturday. A hundred yards from my front door, I encounter the slogan, freshly painted in yellow, across the pavement: ‘Kill the Filthy Jews’. I am shocked. And shocked that I am shocked. The message is too close for comfort. The leafy gentility is, after all, an illusion. Those who study these matters tell me that the current convulsion of anti-Semitism is the worst in a generation. They also say that there is a direct, causal link with the Israeli military operation against Hamas in Gaza. Once upon a time, anti-Israel protesters insisted they were motivated by political animus against Zionism rather than racial prejudice against Jews. The Hamas Charter, which sets out of the guiding principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement — xenophobic, racist and anti-Semitic — removes the distinction. [...] Article Seven of the Charter provides the religious justification: ‘The Prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: “The [end of days] will not come until Muslims fight the Jews and kill them; until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: ‘Oh Muslim, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him!’”’ Read it all: Spectator

Hmm. Thing is though, NY, Britain didn't elect anybody with a name like Barack Obama.
But there is a lot of appeasement of islam going on in the UK. And hating Israel has become trendy for some reason. I don't think that Kensington is under siege though.

Matters will improve in the UK when people realise who the real opponents of democracy are. It is certainly not the Jewish people, some whose families have been here since a few years before WW2 and some before that. These same people formed a large contingent in the armed services who fought and died for this country. They were joined by many Polish Jews who formed the most successfu fighterl squadron in the RAF during the Battle of Britain. Any of my age group who do not know this, should be ashamed. Those younger should read their history books more carefully. Be assured that those islamist militants who wave their threatening placards in London and other cities, will soon be exposed as the real enemy and with almost uncontrolled immigration, will spread their evil intent throughout this country. Israel, if not attacked, poses a danger to none but be assured, will do anything it must to survive. Israel is surrounded by avowed enemies who wish to see that country and its people destroyed. That will not happen.

And let's not forget the Palestinian Jewish Brigades formed by Churchill of 30,000 Palestinian Jewish volunteers which fought alongside British troops in Europe while the leader of the Palestinian Arab Muslims fled to Berlin and organised and supervised the formation of Muslim SS Battalions. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_Brigade

thats exactly what it was - not that Israel had much option mind - both sides are quite literally mad and as I said before if you persistently kick a sleeping dog in the bollocks it will turn around and bite you. Perhaps the Palestinians might not vote Hamas next time. Vote Hamas, vote death, destruction and misery.

demonising Isreal for their acts has nothing to do with combating Islamist extremism. They can be separate subjects dealt with in different ways. They are not one and the same.

Hmm, I'm over in London next weekend, should I pack a burkha? Only I've got hand luggage only and two parties to go to and I'm worried about luggage space.

I think that if you're going to London and want to be considered fashionable then you have to take at least a small banner demanding the destruction of Israel. I laugh at those out of date fools who think that they can still get away with an anti-foxhunting tee shirt.

Britain's Surrender London's reaction to the Gaza war shows it is giving up against jihad. Authored by Ms. Phillips, a columnist for the Daily Mail and author of "Londonistan" (Encounter Books, 2005).
So well balanced and unbiased then
Strangely enough both the London and national news have no reports about attempted assaults on Israel's embassy.

So to think Israel is in the wrong means you support Islamic fanaticism?
Ye Gods. I've changed my mind. I support the death penalty for those who advance simplistic arguments.

What happened to my response?!
New Yorker:
If by 'Useful Idiot' you mean 'not a guillable fool' then you are indeed correct. Only the fool thinks that to be that Israel has not responded appropriately, is exactly the same as saying you agree with Islamic fanaticism.
I mean, seriously, shoot the stupid people. By this same, incredibly daft thinking, to be anti-nazism during WWII means you necessarily had to be pro-Stalin's communism (who were, with the allies after all).
