news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7852168.stmDoner kebabs sold in the UK contain "shocking" levels of salt, fat and calories, a survey has concluded. Officers from 76 councils sampled 494 kebabs to test their nutritional value, during the Local Authority Coordinators of Regulatory Services (Lacors) study. The average doner they tested contained almost 1,000 calories - half a woman's recommended daily intake. Geoffrey Theobald, of Lacors, said: "The level of saturated fat and salt in some is a serious cause for concern." He added that while they "would never consider kebabs part of a calorie-controlled diet" the true content of the average kebab was worrying. Among the kebabs sampled - without salad or sauces - the average doner contained 98% of an adult's recommended daily salt and 148% of their daily saturated fat allowance.

Its the dodgy kebab syndrome.
Go out ,have a beer, feel fine Have several, still feel fine. Go out, have 5-6, still OK Go out, have maybe 15-20 beers and then a kebab, throw up, feel like death warmed over.
It must be the kebab.

It's what happens when the shop's closed that worries me. Do they refrigerate the lump of meat overnight and re-heat it the following day ? Or do they just leave it where it is to collect flies and maggots ?

I have never or would never try a kebab from meat on a revolving spit. They even look disgusting. I do now and again have a chicken kebab - the chicken is cooked on a griddle on skewers and is pure chicken breast with no fat. Eaten with salad, these are the healthier option served with pitta bread. Keep away from the doner!
