Robinho held over 'sex assault' Robinho said he was "happy to co-operate with police" Premier League footballer Robinho has been arrested by police investigating an allegation of sexual assault.
The Manchester City forward met with police as part of a "criminal investigation", following the alleged attack at a nightclub in Leeds.
Robinho's spokesman, Chris Nathaniel, said the player "strenuously denied any allegation of wrongdoing".
West Yorkshire Police confirmed a man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with an alleged incident on 14 January.
Mr Nathaniel said Brazilian international Robinho met with police, as pre-arranged, as part of the criminal investigation and later released on bail.
"He strenuously denies any allegation of wrongdoing or criminality and is happy to co-operate with the police if further required," he said.
Robinho, whose full name is Robson de Souza, joined Manchester City from Real Madrid in September for £32.5 million, making him Britain's most expensive player.
Naughty boy, his millions might not save him.

He said to police. "My English is not too good. When she said no I thought she said now"
Not true of course. Vivid imagination.

'Naughty boy'? He hasn't been found guilty!
Funny joke though...

I'm always suspicious of footballers being up on sexual assault charges. True, they're just as capable as anyone else of carrying out an attack but there are plenty of women who frequent clubs in order to bag a footballer or get a story for the tabloids that will get them some cash.

I don't know why it should be, but to me, the most irritating thing about this Robinho stuff is listening to Mark Hughes' interviews on Radio 5 Live.
Twice in the past week, I've heard him call his star striker "Robbie", and it's almost got me kicking the radio in. When he disappeared back home from their training camp, Hughes was on the radio assuring fans that "Robbie will be returning soon". Last night Hughes was explaining that "Robbie will not get away without being fined for his disappearance".
Robbie??? Aaaarrgggghhhh!
