Not many left now from WW1, amazing to think that some are still alive tbh. I have all the documents/medals from a relative who was with the RN back then, he was born in 1899, and enlisted at the start of the war in 1914. He was invalided out after the war with shrapnel, but lived to 1970. I loved listening to him reminiscing - I wonder what he would think of our world now?

My dad was born 1897 and served throughout WW1 with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (The ladies from hell, the Germans called them). He did not speak much about it except to say than waking up in his trench with rats chewing at his socks, was dreadful.

I saw it too and it touched my heart. There is a humbleness in WW1 and WW2 veterans that is quite breathtaking. They saw such terrors and endured hell in the trenches to give us the lives we have today. We have freedom thanks to them. God rest his soul. I hope he and the other veterans get rewarded in Heaven.

Any video coverage of this soldiers funeral. We are bit isolated here in the colonies. I visited a number of the battle sites in north west France on my vacations there. Unbelievable what they went through. My deepest respects.
