Quite a few places on the coast have been spoilt by industrialisation. A necessary evil I suppose

I was in that part of the Lakes not long back. Went up Scafell and Great Gable in the snow. Fantastic walking. And the coastal area up by Sellafield is all really pretty, too, although lots of it still feels like it's about 1982.

I'm quite happy with cold, crisp, winters days with or without snow. I love long hot summer days with endless blue skies. I hate the cold, grey, drab, miserable days inbetween. The sky is grey, the landscape is grey - even the people look grey. "even the people look grey. " are you sure? with all that Avatar?

Life has its compensations Avi - We need something to help us through the long, dark winter.

Yep, Rick. Oddly and ironically, though, a warming in the stratosphere this time caused the jetstream to move further south which means we get winds that prevail from the east, rather than the west.

It's even colder here on the South Coast today! So far this morning we have had heavy snow, blizzard conditions, heavy rain and now snow again! The sun is trying to come through, but the sky keeps turning dark grey in between. Apparently it's set to continue for the next few days!
