Obviously, not a good thing. But it was worse under Thatch, you know.
Which is the obvious response but in both cases the actions of Thatcher and Brown aren't really the cause of the problem - it's bigger than any tin pot little British PM. Brown couldn't screw us up as badly as some say he has, even if he was trying to.

How dare you understimate the Prime Minister like that! Of course Brown could easily achieve the kind of mess that the Soviet Union in it's better days could only dream of inflicting on Britain.
