The London Financial Times stated the other day that the countries that will be the most affected by this recession will be those counties that are dependant upon banking services, those counties who economies are dependant upon "Consumerism" and those countries the wealth of which, is dependant upon property values. What can I add to that? Not a lot.

the only countries that wont be effected are those that arnt self sufficent, ie non at all. The more a country is reliant on imports the more in the sh*t they are.

Can we feed ourselves? Do we grow enough potatoes? So, as we don't have a what could be called a fishing fleet anymore, that's "Fish 'n' chips" off the menu

a fishing fleet is not much good after youve decimated the fishing grounds I know, Iknow. And who fault is that? Ours, part of the benefit of being "European". Iceland, bankrupt but still got their means to earn a living.

Can we feed ourselves? Do we grow enough potatoes? Hmm, well in this region, there's a lovely big piece of arable land in Norforlk and another just as big piece of agricultural land in Essex which could help to supply our food needs. Oh no, scrub that. They won't be able to be used for agricultural purposes much longer. The Government's decided to have them concreted over and turned into Eco-Towns.

Yeh I seem to remember some years ago reading that the Mormons were buying large tracks of agricultural land here in the U.K,. Did they know something the rest of us didn't? (Well most of us) i.e. That the day was coming when food in the larder would be more important than money in the bank.
