The left eating their own. Gotta love it. Patricia Arquette’s Oscar acceptance speech. “To every women who gave birth to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody else’s equal rights. It’s our time … to have wage equality once and for all and equal rights for women in the United States of America.” "Patricia Arquette Loses Feminist Goodwill with Comments Backstage at Oscars"Backstage comment - “So the truth is, even though we sort of feel like we have equal rights in America, right under the surface, there are huge issues that are applied that really do affect women. And it’s time for all the women in America and all the men that love women, and all the gay people, and all the people of color that we’ve all fought for to fight for us now.” tinyurl.com/qjazmz5 Reaction? She is now being ripped to pieces by her comrades for being a racist, an anti-feminist, a homophobe, a transphobe, a whateverphobe.

"a racist, an anti-feminist, a homophobe, a transphobe, a whateverphobe."
Utterly stupid, women feature in all those "categories".

And a Hollywood actor talking about wage equality? Ha ha ha!

Oh for gawds sake! The only thing that statement proves is that there are a horde of eegits out there just waiting to pounce on you if you don't carefully construe every sentence you utter

Oh for gawds sake! The only thing that statement proves is that there are a horde of eegits out there just waiting to pounce on you if you don't carefully construe every sentence you utter Thats the entire point. The left has created a Frankenstein monster that is now turning on them and devouring them. "Oh, good morning, #PatriciaArquette. Intersectionality means the very obvious of WOMEN ARE SOMETIMES ALSO PPL OF COLOR AND QUEER. ugh." — Sally J. Johnson (@sallyjayjohnson) She never said she was leaving out women of color or queer women. She said 'women.' I would think thats pretty inclusive. But she committed the sin of not mentioning every possible group individually."patricia's comments show the danger in not being hip to this whole intersectionality thing. women of color get erased." — Tracy Clayton (@brokeymcpoverty) She is intersectionally unhip. Oh, oh. She never erased women of color. Once again, the word 'women' includes ALL women,,,black, brown, white, queer, whatever. But she didn't specifically say black women, queer women, etc. Big sin. "Patricia Arquette sure ruined her nice moment. Fighting against one injustice does not excuse blindness to others." — Wende (@webbspinner77) By not specifically addressing every possible grievance/injustice there is, she is now a horrible person? Sure looks like it.

I do think there's been some very spectacular offense taking about the Oscar speeches. Sure, the bloke who played Hawking was being a bit of a thingy. And the bloke who wrote Imitation Game could have phrased his speech much better. And Patricia Arquette - a fairly famously loopy person from a famously loopy family - wasn't completely coherent in her speech. And Sean Penn's green card joke was a bit odd, in terms of timing.
All of them could have done better. Sure.
But, you know, allow them some leeway for trying to make positive points in a fairly high pressure situation instead of the usual "thank my agents, my family, the studio" bollocks.

It actually annoys me when they get all soundbite political (see Arquette).
I prefer them to stick to thanking agents and family members.

I have enjoyed seeing the right in the us get into a froth about it all though, quite a few soiled nappies and puce faced ignoramuses on display over the past few days as they whip themselves into impotent fury over a few luvies slapping them selves on the back telling each other how marvelous they were.
The whole thing is inane
