I knew a South African bloke who boasted that when he and his (ex-Bush War) mates went out shooting in the national parks, they had a tacit agreement with the authorities that they could shoot poachers on sight. And they did.

He was a horrible bloke.

I've known a few - can't say I particularly liked any of them. There's one lives a few miles from us, nice faux-humble guy, who has an eye for the women and, would you believe it?...is a bible puncher because he's ashamed of his SA background in the army where he committed foul deeds he won't talk about. But he doesn't miss a trick and if there's anything going he's in there like a greased ferret.
