It's too late, the sky has fallen in: www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/siemens-boss-joe-kaeser-vows-to-invest-in-uk-in-brexit-u-turn-a7132236.htmlSiemens, the largest engineering company in Europe, has vowed to continue to invest in the UK despite the nation’s vote to leave the EU, backing away from earlier warnings. The German company, which has 13 plants in the UK and employs 14,000 people across the country, was among multinational firms to openly back a Remain vote ahead of the referendum on June 23. “We’re here to stay,” Joe Kaeser, Siemens chief executive, said at an event at the House of Commons on Monday. “The UK matters with or without being a member of the EU. The Brexit vote will not diminish our commitment to your country. Siemens will not leave the next generation behind, ” Kaeser said. It's a good job that the British economy is entirely dependent on a single, German, company, then. It is probably worth noting that "continue to invest" does not, necessarily, mean "continue to invest at the same level". It's probably worth waiting to see Quite, absolutely right, revert to panicing.

Anyone noticed how most of the Brexiters are actually trolls? (I exclude van as she's the only one here who's actually had anything to say to support her stance). Same on FB. Weird. 37% of the voting public, the dumb minority, have scratched their crosses in the box and in one fell swoop removed the PM and destabilised the country. If that's a well-run democracy my prick's a bloater. Except you'd have the exact opposite response if Remain had one.

Substantiate your original claim that the other link - to which my one is, er, linked - is out of date. Don't just sit there on your fat butt hurling post-prandial insults.

When was that survey taken Lala? I assume it was sometime before May 2016, yeah? Doesn't it say, actually in the graph itself? That's the point of it. May 16th and July 16th, right, so you can see the comparison? I might be missing something. But at first glance it looks like you're the one missing the great big words in the graph and the entire point of it.

I assume that Van means that if Remain had won, with 52% of a 70% turnout, and therefore a mere 37% of the electorate voting, you would not be arguing for a new referendum because the result wasn't valid as a result of low turnout. Of all weak the arguments against the referendum result, I think this is one of the weakest.

The report has just been produced and the graphic provided suggests data was obtained in May 16 and July 16. Have you reason to think otherwise? I know the Swiss are very good with clocks and stuff, but I didn't realise they were time lords. How would they have managed to survey business leaders in July 2016 and still do it BEFORE the Brexit vote (23rd June).

A split second of interwebbing confirm's O'Neill is making sh*t up. Kind of. While I'm no fan of Dawkins, this is what he actually said: My own answer to the question is, “How should I know? I don’t have a degree in economics. Or history. How dare you entrust such an important decision to ignoramuses like me?”
I, and most other people, don’t have the time or the experience to do our due diligence on the highly complex economic and social issues facing our country in, or out of, Europe. That’s why we vote for our Member of Parliament, who is paid a good salary to debate such matters on our behalf, and vote on them. The European Union referendum, like the one on Scottish independence, should never have been called. So he is not calling into question the intellectual cpacities of ordinary people, but of all people, even moderately clever chaps like Richard Dawkins, to actually make an informed, sensible decision EITHER WAY, and thus the stupidity of deciding something massively opaque, complex and important by a friggin' referendum. Of course, mids, whose intellectual capacities are very questionable, thinks it is a superb article; but he also bought Farage's line that the whole of Turkey's population was going to be domiciled in his livingroom the morning after a vote for Remain.
