There appear to be about 50,000 coal mining jobs in the US, in total. There appear to be maybe a few hundred more than last year....

The Generals thing appears to be because Trump doesn't really trust politicians. So he's slowly getting rid of the Republican establishment types like Spicer and Priebus (or they're quitting - it's hard to tell). He's bringing in ex-generals who he appears to like because they're authority figures, and may also like because they have a default loyalty to the commander-in-chief as part of their decades of training. He's also bringing in corrupt Wall Street like Mooch and Mnuchin.
These are what he's comfortable with.
It may even be that Trump doesn't really like political players, which is why Bannon is becoming ever less visible.
The interesting thing with Sessions is that Trump doesn't have the balls to sack him, and Sessions is holding out to do as much damage as he can. As others have said, it's like a boyfriend trying to get their girlfriend to leave them because they haven't got the guts to actually do the dumping, and the girlfriend refusing.

Still think he wants to got a recess appointment chance then nominate some total wingnut who wouldn't ever stand a chance of getting past even this sycophantic congress.

Hasta luego, Mooch-chacho!
He gets hired, divorced, misses the birth of his child and then fired all in barely a week. The best people can get a lot done in a week's time.

Things move fast in Trumpland - I barely had time to learn who Scaramoochi was.

Oh dear, obstruction of justice territory President Donald Trump personally dictated the statement his son gave on his talks with a Russian lawyer during the election campaign, US media report. It said Donald Trump Jr and the lawyer had mostly discussed the adoption of Russian children in June 2016. Mr Trump Jr later revealed he had agreed to meet her after being told he could receive damaging material on Hillary Clinton. President Trump has repeatedly denied any collusion with Russia. The Senate, House of Representatives and a special counsel are all investigating alleged Russian interference in the presidential election which took the form of attempts to undermine Mrs Clinton - a claim denied by the Kremlin. The reports about Mr Trump Jr's statement came in the midst of further turmoil at the White House. www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-40786411Still the GOP are never gonna do anything about the corruption and illegality in the WH, so more clusterfucking for the foreseeable.

The amount of "talking the talk but not walking the walk" about Trump's malfeasance that the Republicans are doing is amazing. It's not just McCain. Graham and Sasse have been at it. Jeff Flake (AZ senator up for re-election next year) has just published a book attacking Trump and demanding a return to constitutional and institutional norms. And yet he's voted for every single thing Trump has proposed, and has gone along with every institution changing tactic from Mitch McConnell.
It's an amazing form of either actual lying or astonishing self-deception.
