Boris Johnson has been slammed after footage resurfaced of him telling a Labour politician to 'get stuffed' after he questioned swingeing fire service cuts.
The video was recorded during a heated debate on frontline services in a meeting of the London Assembly in 2013.
It shows then-London Mayor Mr Johnson telling Labour Assembly member Andrew Dismore to 'get stuffed' after he accused him of 'lying to the people of London'.
The clip has been recirculated across social media in the wake of the Grenfell Tower block tragedy, leaving many viewers furious.
Boris’s cuts in 2014 saw the closure of 10 fire stations, the loss of 552 firefighters’ jobs and the removal of 27 engines.
During the assembly meeting Mr Dismore can be heard asking Mr Johnson: 'How can cutting fire stations, cutting fire engines, cutting firefighters' posts not be a reduction in fire coverage?'
Mr Johnson replies: 'Because we are improving fire coverage as I have said several times, by continuing to reduce deaths from fire and continuing to reduce the incidence of fire. That is the name of the game'.
No-one's suggesting there was a lack of firemen at the fire. But there would have been elsewhere in London as they'd been called in for miles around to tackle the blaze. Fortunately it was the only emergency at the time.
But if you think cutting emergency services is a good idea (you and the troll by the look of it) maybe you'd explain your reasoning?
Corbynistas inciting a riot. I've no doubt at all that Corbyn and his allies will try to use this to bring down the government. I wouldn't be surprised if they organise some large-scale riots over the summer.
yeah, cos if wasn't for Corbyn people would have been perfectly happy living in a death trap tinder box, and would be all meh about as many as 100 people dying as a result.
idiot
That which does not kill us makes us angry and weak
Cold heartless wanker, he could have expressed some sympathy for the tragic victims before making his own political point. It's like the tragedy of 24 hours previously didn't happen but the furore somehow did & that's what important. Utter cock
All the video clips on BBC Global today have been showing local people/volunteers handing out food and water. Where the hell is the Red Cross UK? Why aren't the aid services for those people set up? Surely they have an emergency procedure that should have kicked in but no sign of anything like that. Only today have they announced a central location for people to register according to BBC Global news. It's a really pathetic response from the local municipality and the rest of the government.
When 86,000 people were evacuated from Fort Mac, Alberta due to wildfires the first people who stepped up were Red Cross Canada and local municipalities in other towns and cities close to Fort Mac kicked in with their emergency response plans. Why isn't this happening in London?

The local authorities have been slashed to the bone which explains but does not excuse their abysmal reaction. Finding 400 new family homes in London, close to their schools, work, support networks is going to cost a whole lot more than the miserable £5m the Tory Gov has chipped in.
There is rising anger throughout the UK (if my FB is anything to go by) at the atrocious response aggravated by PM May visiting but not speaking to the survivors. Austerity has played a part in this tragedy and now in the responses.
