Also what’s wrong with excluding some opinions? Should they be required to adopt a balanced approach to opinions such as denying the Holocaust or thinking gay people should be punished?

Nothing wrong with highlighting certain groups that believe “gay people should be punished” so that we are made aware of their practices. |

There should be less tokenism at the BBC, I agree. There are still too little genuine diversity. It's a token woman here, a token gay, a token black person, but dominated by white men. They should change that and have fewer straight white dudes in both drama and, particularly, current affairs.
All-white, or predominantly white, shows should be relegated to special interest spots. Ditto straight, ditto male.

Absolutely right. They should stop having these tokenistic whites-only shows. Maybe they should have a niche digital channel for straight white people where everything is beige and they discuss craft beer and throw pillows and why everything is worse than it used to be.

Nearly right. The BBC is ridiculously biased and should be reformed or closed down.
Ideally it should be properly reformed, have all the establishment oxbridge types flushed out of it, and take on a proper communitarian role with a board made up of stakeholders in society like union leaders, representatives of ethnic minority groups, imams, the leaders of groups like Stonewall, and so on. It should have at least two hours a week proclaiming the latest numbers in tractor production, letting us know how hard the proletariat are working to overcome the drag on society that is the bourgeousie.

The obvious way to do this is by proportional representation: if 80% of the population's black for example, 80% of presenters should be black; if 98% of the population's queer, then 98% of presenters should be queer. And so on, but also according to skills and aptitude to the job, so... ...back to all white males then. |
