I don't know why Rick, Mids and Baloo are against girls using science kits and playing with technical lego and meccano and so on. Where did we say that? You seemed to object to gender neutral parenting. Which would mean letting kids decide what they want to play with, how they want to act. Rather than directing them to do it - letting them decide what to wear rather than putting boys in leather chaps and girls in little pink miniskirts. Letting them decide what to play with rather than giving boys guns and star wars figuirines, and girls aprons and mops. I don't know why gender-directed parenting is so essential that people freak out at the idea of gender neutral stuff. |

You are more likely to get lefties who don't try and force kids to adhere to playing with "boy" or "girl" toys than anything else. This is just Rick and mids insecurity about what they perceive as a diminishing of masculinity .

And the problem seems to be especially with boys doing girl things which probably says a lot about the low status they grant to things seem as feminine. A tomboy daughter is fine. A son who plays with dolls and likes ballet is embarrassing for some reason. But yes I never knew why people were so protective of gender specific parenting. It seems very anti-freedom for no good reason that I can see. |

At my school, the boys did woodwork, metalwork and techy drawing while the girls did home economics. Girls at my school did Needlework and Cookery. They made the boys aprons to wear for their Metal work and woodwork classes Girls knew their place in those days. |
