So, um, the BBC website says "the abuse took place at Dylan's apartment in New York's Chelsea Hotel" and "She said the abuse took place over a six-week period between April and May 1965." Dylan was on tour in Britain for most of that period: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Dylan_England_Tour_1965 (for the Dylan nerds, it wasn't *that* Free Trade Hall gig, that came a year later). |

True dat. I think I remember matey from Status Quo saying that they always had girls throwing themselves at them, but they knew they were girls, not women, and did the right thing. The suggestion was that Status Quo were very much the exception in that.

I spent my adolescent years in rural Somerset. Losing your virginity before you were sixteen was a given. It was also perfectly acceptable for a fourteen year old girl to be going out with a nineteen year old lad.
Not for me or my mates (male or female), but in town, yeah.

The few girls who were not virgins before 16 were a rarity that shocked us. That said a lot of girls of South Asian descent at my school which may have skewed it. But even for the rest of us having had sex was uncommon. But the average age of first time sex was 17 so we were in line with the majority. |
