What - like Rome was? Before it became an Empire?

though if that were true, not being a democratic society, you'd have no idea what an actual democracy is.

50% of Eswatini's GDP is accounted for by "Government services". Good luck in trading in those. Perhaps you had Government Services Futures or other derivatives in mind? Ah, what proportion of UK's economy is said to come from "the service sector" which is often held out as "the financial services sector" by Project Fear dicksplashes?

Shall I give you a clue?
Government spending alone contributed "48% of GDP in 2009–10"

So, the government lied to the Queen and broke Scottish law with their proroguing. Interesting what happens next - apparently Scottish law was broken but English law wasn't. That's going to make life very tricky for the Supreme Court's appeal ruling. Although being the UK parliament they have to adhere to the laws of all parts of the Kingdom. I know Brexit is all an English Nationalist Project. The government, though, still pretend to be unionist. It's going to be hard for them to keep up that pretense much longer.

Interesting the way the English court took the view that politics was none of its business but the Scottish court took the opposite view - rule by judges, which I've just learned today is a called a kritarchy. I think I prefer sovereignty to lie with the people who lend it to parliament where a government does the governing, rather than a small bunch of appointed judges.

So it's your opinion that a government is unable break the law and can do whatever it wants? Literally everything the Corbyn government does when it comes into power in a couple of months should be unchallenged?

so, those sunny uplands..... Riots on the streets, food prices rises and reduced medical supplies are real risks of the UK leaving the EU without a deal, a government document has said. Ministers have published details of their Yellowhammer contingency plan, after MPs voted to force its release. It outlines a series of "reasonable worst case assumptions" for the impact of a no-deal Brexit on 31 October. www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-49670123

It's worth noting that this exact document was described as "base case scenario" a week ago. Suddenly it's "reasonable worst case"...
