While it's true that we're always ruled by a minority, it's odd that it's the same minority for a quarter of a millennium. And while there's probably no way of removing the "rich" element from the minority - because that's how you get elected anywhere - there's no harm in pointing out that if almost all Senators are millionaires, then they may not be aligned with the interests of the broader population

Where is Robinson from? (Also you may have missed that there have been conflicts in African countries where one ethnic group has been to seen to prioritised at the expense of others. Ditto China with treatment of minorities but not sure what the relevance is to Robinson.)

You also missed his point he is discussing whether minority rule is right. "Rich white men" are clearly a minority in the USA. Once must ask if the minority ruling in the US were "rich black men" if you'd be a ok with it...

A report by UNESCO has suggested that the default use of female-sounding voice assistants in our smart home gadgets and smartphones perpetuates sexist attitudes towards women.

Why is this a problem? Well, according to the report, the default use of female-sounding voice assistants sends a signal to users that women are "obliging, docile and eager-to-please helpers, available at the touch of a button or with a blunt voice command like ‘hey’ or ‘OK’".

The report also highlights the fact that these voice assistants have "no power of agency beyond what the commander asks of it" and responds to queries "regardless of [the user's] tone or hostility".

This sounds like a comedy routine. Should these devices be programmed to tell you to fcuk off if they don't like your tone of voice?
I saw a news segment on this and they asked one woman what she thought of it. Her response was "Men don't listen to other men", lol.

I do often abuse my female satnav in gender specific demeaning terms like "Yes, I f**k**g know, you daft bint" or "Shut up, trollop". I suppose that suggests that I am reacting to the female-ness of the voice.

I also react differently to different accents. My Google Maps has the usual chilled out American woman, and I take her advice as just that, advice. On Apple Maps it's a very stern sounding English woman and I do exactly as she says (unless it's actually illegal or dangerous).
