Participation in South America is pretty weak. In fact, participation in American "sports" appears to be in inverse proportion to distance from America.

Yeah, both boys and girls do play soccer, in England only girls really play American sports, not having a go, it's just boys more likely to play football, rugby or cricket. It's just how it is. I doubt many play cricket or rugby where you are either.
