My "argument" was that baseball is played outside of the US, Japan being a notable example. Then you, as someone who has "barely heard of it", suddenly became an expert in the history of baseball in Japan. You blunder, introduce various strawmen to save face, and are called out on it, leaving you with the choice of admitting your mistake or doubling down and looking like a fool. You, of course, chose the latter. Well done. Well, nobody's disputed that it's played outside the US, but you've spent a lot of time defending it's popularity in the face of the evidence. The case is that baseball, basketball and "football" are nowhere near as popular as you would like to think. I made that point some time ago, but you don't seem to have been able to choke it down. Yee-haw! It has been fun to watch you reveal your ignorance of your own country's geography and regional influences though. Do you have a passport? I responded to the claim that it's played in only a few places. You interpreting that as jingoism reveals more about your own bias. I know all those sports, "football" in particular, are not popular around the world. The whole discussion started by me wondering if any of you had heard of Mays for that very reason. Yes, I own a passport. I've done a fair amount of traveling, probably been to around 20 countries. In fact, I'm going to use it again this week. And at least I know that baseball was not introduced to Japan though Alaska during postwar reconstruction. Snort!

Never said it was. That appears to be the extent of your awareness. I hope that you fix that wobbly chair.

Just pointing out your lack of geospatial awareness.

Can you really not see how the nature of geographical separation can be changed? It works both ways. Crossing across a number of countries and cultures would offer, I posit, a diluting effect. So, your assertion that popularity of baseball is ubiquitous in "all of Latin America" is demonstrably incorrect. You don't need to be an expert to question that.

Ismael Kadare
Not a "Who" for me - I think I read 5 or 6 of his books, almost all brilliant.
But probably a Who for you lot.

I think I only ever saw her in 90210. She was, like all the actors, ridiculously old for the part - she was 20-something when she was meant to look 15.

There were others in 90210 who performed that service for me.

One of my favourite comedians of all time. Great writing, great timing, great use of the telephone as his prop. Many people know of his popular sketches e.g., The Driving Instructor, Introducing Tobacco to Civilisation etc., but some really great lines feature in his lesser known work too e.g., Flying to Hawaii with The Grace L. Ferguson Airline (And Storm Door Co.) ...
Pilot: Sir ... Hawaii ... it’s kinda kidney-shaped, isn’t it sir?
Priceless.
RIP.
