Sounds like 1000s of terrorists have had their nuts blown off.

Ha and, indeed, ha. "Another breakthrough came in 1949 when he adapted his two-way radios to one-way for cordless remote telephonic signaling. He had effectively invented the first telephone pager system. His intention for this system was to be used by medical doctors, but was met with skepticism by doctors who were afraid the system would upset patients.[6] This same technology is used in one-way radio signaling devices such as garage door openers." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Gross_(engineer)

How dumb are the left to get themselves blown up by pagers?

Pretty ingenious. They use pagers so their location can't be traced, no?
I see Iran's ambassador was one of the "victims", hmmm.

It looks like the Israelis intercepted a shipment of pagers and put explosives and a detonator in them. Hezboll-aaaargh!

What reaction is expected? Some people running away and others standing around thinking “wtf is happening” is pretty much what you would expect?

People to run to assist an injured man. What a strange World you live in. If that was UK (with the exception of certain boroughs) the resident first aiders would be on him before he hit the ground - probably squabbling over who had been on the most recent course.

I wonder what brand those papers were. It's quite a coup, but hardly original. It's a dirty old business, for sure, and unlikely to help much.

Nah - I have seen people injured before and the reaction is largely similar in the UK. And if there was something exploding people would stand stunned firstly wondering wtf was happening, some would then go over to check and others would have run. We have no idea that nobody went over to help that man. Only a 10 second video.

Ten seconds is more than enough to react, unless you're a complete dodo.

"The race to find the maker of the pagers that exploded in Lebanon has taken an unexpected turn - towards a Taiwanese company few had heard of until this morning.
At least 12 people were killed and nearly 3,000 injured in Tuesday's explosions targeting members of the armed group Hezbollah, which set off a gepolitical storm in the Middle East.
Caught in the crisis, Taiwanese firm Gold Apollo's founder Hsu Ching-Kuang flatly denied his company had anything to do with the attacks.
Instead, Mr Hsu has said he licensed his trade mark to a company in Hungary called BAC Consulting to use the Gold Apollo name on their own pagers. BBC attempts to contact BAC have so far been unsuccessful.
“You look at the pictures from Lebanon,” Mr Hsu told reporters outside his firm's offices on Wednesday. 'They don’t have any mark saying Made in Taiwan on them, we did not make those pagers!'"

Don't you always stand back from explosions in case there are secondary explosions?
It definitely sounds like the Israelis got into the supply chain somewhere. It seems to have been quite an effective move on their part, but also seems to be a pretty unnecessary provocation, almost as if they know they're totally f**k*d in the public eye in Gaza, and now they're trying the West Bank where they have even less justification, so they need to provoke an enemy who everyone already knows to be thoroughly nasty so they can continue their military actions everywhere and pretend that it's in self defence.
That said, I've seen some of the usual outrage of people who get outraged at everything Israel does and they are reporting that all kinds of doctors and teachers also had the pagers - without any evidence, but those are the kinds of people who tug the heartstrings.
Also, slight aside, if I'd been living in Lebanon at any point since the 70s I might have something of a tendency to fatalism about all kinds of sh*t that can happen.

I'm sure it's a good idea to be a bit circumspect around explosions but, in my experience, most people rush to help.

We on the far, rational centre run towards danger. It's who we are.

Apparently the Assad regime has issued an order for everyone in the Syrian military to get rid of handheld comms devices. I don't think Israel is planning to invade Syria, so it feels like a bit of a mistake on their part. This is the kind of thing you want sleeping for years and only to activate when you really need it because if you can f**k a military's comms completely you'd do that during an actual conflict.

I see that there have been further explosions, this time using walkie-talkies. Makes sense.
Hang on, isn't Maureen "Beattie" Lipman a vocal zionist?
