The best analogy of the religious mind set I read was this “This is rather as if you imagine a puddle waking up one morning and thinking, 'This is an interesting world I find myself in — an interesting hole I find myself in — fits me rather neatly, doesn't it? In fact it fits me staggeringly well, must have been made to have me in it!' And what did that hole tell that puddle? "Yes, you fill me well, but so does any group of water drops"

"What makes you think or believe any of the facts are true?"
As opposed to what? Facts that are untrue?
Look avi, the Amnesty International piece, if you were to read it, DOES apportion the blame in part to rocket-firing Palestinians in Gaza. I suspect that you believe those bits - but then you choose to disbelieve the bits that it writes regarding Israel's disproportionate responses to these attacks.
You really can't have it both ways unless, of course, you view you and your people as being somewhat special.

That's the crux of the matter. It's tribalism. The fantasy of Avi's specialness means that human rights are trampled at every turn when it suits the special ones. Another name for it is racism.

Why ask me? Why not ask your God? Even better, why not save time and do just whatever you want to do, using His name to justify whatever outcome is achieved. Don't forget to sweep under the carpet whatever collateral damage there is by recycling your old mantra of it "never happened". Your God will LOVE you for that.

We like you and like every other group of people are special to ourselves. Nothing more, nothing less. We Jews or Israelis never mistreated any other people or group of people. We retaliate when attacked or threatened. Specially not oppresing other people or "natives" like other nations....

That's correct. The issue is to prevent religious, ideological and political beliefs getting to the stage where they result in massacres, occupation and oppression. The Israel problem is that it took a step backwards, just when the colonial era was ending. Obviously, there are plenty of other places where terrible things are happening.
We don't have to listen to endless propaganda and denial on this board, or in the UK generally, on behalf of Burmese government atrocities, for example. The amount of support for human rights here, is in response to your delusions of your personal and tribal specialness.

I hope your shrink will keep you in the meds you require to keep you sane.. I see you talk from experience. I was once told here not to engage in argument with a fool because he is bound to bring you down to his own level and there he will win due to his more experience.. Well, its not so difficult really, you can use all the tools the Internet can provide: When and where did humans start living by the 7 day cycle? And the insane excuses of brain washing keeps on coming. You have such an inferiority complex that you lack the insight that human beings could come up with theses things by their own merrit and enginuity rather than the involvement of some invisible sky god. Who gave the Egyiptians the technology to build the pyramids? People aquire techical knowlege as time goes on. Ha ha! And you think yourself intelligent. You are the fool because you have been fooled..

In Stonehenge and Easter Island they errected fantastic structure. But no other culture created values that are encapsuled in The Ten commandments. That is said only to denounce atheists.

wow that must the wrongest wrong thing ever to be wrong. Well the first 5 are incredibly naggy and needy, its all about keeping the punters in line, the other 5 are basic human decency, though depending on what bit of the bible you choose there are different ones. Matthew 19:18- Matthew 19:19 Mark 10:19 Luke 18:20 1. Thou shalt do no murder 1.Do not commit adultery 1.Do not commit adultery 2. Thou shalt not commit adultery 2.Do not kill 2.Do not kill 3. Thou shalt not steal 3.Do not steal 3.Do not steal 4. Thou shalt not bear false witness 4.Do not bear false witness 4.Do not bear false witness 5. Honour thy father and thy mother 5.Defraud not 5.Honour thy father and thy mother. 6. Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself 6.Honour thy father and mother. N/A Though not one version ever says slavery is no allowed, in fact no where in any of the Abrahamic story books does it say owning a person is a bad thing, you want to tell me fornication is worst than owning a person, I mean really. many parallels in all religions, nothing unique or special. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethics_in_religion

Not a second before. Slavery is actually appreciating human value. The ability to work and give value is the one thing a person has by existing. In one way or another every employee today has actually sold his ability. If you study the laws of slavery you will find them much more humane than the way people relinquish their freedom today. Kunta Kinta is an exception that proves the rule. (Capturing people like animals)

We get the message. Avi is speaking in his tribal code. It's a house of mirrors language where 'atrocity' in our language becomes 'good' in his. He's probably one of the far-out religious sect who apply this logic to the Holocaust.

We get the message. Avi is speaking in his tribal code. It's a house of mirrors language where 'atrocity' in our language becomes 'deserved punishment' in his. He's probably one of the far-out religious sect who apply this logic to the Holocaust. Could be if any "atrocity" was done by Israel in all the 70 years of our existing as a nation. It was not. Yes. Even in cases where punishment was forthcoming, we didn't.

The 10 commandments were around before Moses. Genesis 26:5 Abraham obeyed My voice and kept. my charge, My commandments, My statutes and My laws. Very true. The Torah exists always. It was given to the Jewish people to keep it and distribute it to all mankind, in Sinai.
