Where is this non-sequitur leading you? To the conclusion that because he accepts he has to consider public opinion as president of the Spanish FA, he can do what he likes when he's not president? Well, did he, and why would he? That he clearly has not learned anything.

Never heard of any of them before the antisocial media hatefest. Tell us more about this "assaulting a woman" court case. Maybe more people can enjoy a bout of sanctimonious rage.

Bertie has a track record of liking the Spanish Sporting Establishment, so it's no surprise that he likes the Spanish federation president more than he does their women footballers. I wonder if he has some connection.
Meanwhile, he also has a recent track record of supporting terrible people like Vladimir Putin, so, you know...

i supporting terrible people like Vladimir Putin
Supporting, as in sending $54 billion of weapons, of which a useful sum can be raised by sales on the Black Market? That's American taxpayers' generous gift to the Zelensky regime. Be fair, though. American money for American plutocrats in the weapons and energy industries. Be even fairer and count the salaries for working class people in these important industries at the expense of teachers and workers in employment that is of public good.

I watched about 30 seconds of it. Seemed to be pure tiresome rugby cliche (and 10 years old).

Maybe there's more to it than "footballers are effete pansies, rugby players are nice guys but hard as nails". But I couldn't get that far.

That rugby types are preening self-righteous tools who have a terrible inferiority complex about their sport so need to compare it to one that lots of people play and watch?

Preening?
There is but one advert on The Idiot Box at the moment with a rugby player doing the honours, whereas media history is pretty replete with soccer players lending their "brand" to, amongst other things, after-shave, betting sites, cable-TV providers, de-odorants, razors, skin conditioners, sports channels and whisky - as if they needed the cash.
But yeah - rugby players "preening". Right.

Rugby people, not rugby players. Desperately preening about how very special their sport is so superior compared to all the other football code. How their players are so nice, but also tough as nails. How their fans are just so decent compared to the working class oiks.

So you're referring to Union- then and not the (comparatively) working-class League code?

Rugby league types don't seem nearly as needy and desperate. But maybe I just know fewer of them.
