Wow! I can't remember the last time I saw anything as sensible and coherent on QT. I suppose you had to go back 4 months to find anything that was raging, seething gammons deeply frustrated that the maps aren't all coloured in the same puce tone as their faces.

The New Yorker magazine has suspended one of its long-time staff writers, legal expert Jeffrey Toobin, while it investigates a report that he was allegedly masturbating during a Zoom work call earlier this month.
“I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera,” Toobin said in a statement on Monday about the situation, first reported by Vice.
He added: “I apologize to my wife, family, friends and co-workers. I thought I had muted the Zoom video, I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me.”
He has so far declined to confirm details.Easy mistake to make. |

Why do you have an issue with this news story. “ Students from northern England are being ridiculed over their accents and backgrounds at one of the country’s leading universities, and even forced out, according to a report compiled by a Durham student... .... The student had attended a summer school run by the Sutton Trust, which encourages people from lower socio-economic backgrounds to go into higher education. She said: “Straight away this became a running joke of the class, that I was a token there. I was told repeatedly that the only reason I was at Durham was because my family were on benefits (my family have worked all their lives). I was accused of stealing, I was told I would never get a job because of the way I speak, I was told that I was a waste of a worthy student’s place. I received this from students and staff alike.” If a university, respected university is creating a hostile environment for students why do you think that it’s bad for the students to call that out? In many work environments this kind of thing would lead to disciplinary action. Maybe she just wants to learn in peace. Or is that you are so enthralled to the British class system that you applaud the over privileged denigrating people for being working class? As for it being “important news” it’s on a section of the website dedicating to schools and teaching and stories relevant to that. You blithering idiot. |
