Of course, she could have paid for a reasonable parking period, or she could have had a funky feed the meter. As it it was, she failed to plan properly, failed to adapt to changing circumstances and expected the taxpayer to pick up the bill.
How very Labour.

Every job I’ve had let people claim parking tickets if received when doing business (for reasonable reasons.)
If she’s walked out mid surgery she would still be receive criticism. Seems like she selected the option that served her constituents.
Edit:
Ok well she was stupid then. I disagree with the rule but it exists so she should be following it.
“The expenses watchdog said: 'MPs and their staff are not allowed to claim for penalty charges and fines under IPSA rules.' It said the rule was 'clearly stated' in its code of conduct for MPs and it has 'changed our process to ensure any future such claims are not paid'.”
That said if it was a one-off then I don’t get the outrage.

No job I have ever had allowed you to claim parking tickets on personal expenses, except on the most extreme of circumstances.

I think it's safe to assume that Tory MPs don't give a f**k about their constituents and would leave them in the lurch rather than incur a parking ticket.

Nah, they'd just deal with it rather than expecting everyone else to wipe their arse for them.

Nah, they'd just deal with it rather than expecting everyone else to wipe their arse for them. Lies. MPs claim for expenses incurred when doing business all the time. Including Tories.

No job I have ever had allowed you to claim parking tickets on personal expenses, except on the most extreme of circumstances. No job I have ever worked at has ever allowed people to claim personal expenses full stop. Expenses incurred when doing business are a whole other ballgame. As you acknowledge there are circumstances where it is permissible. Dealing with a distressed constituent would appear to be one.

I'm just surprised someone like you from an upper middle class background has sunk so low. Not that there's anything wrong with cleaning- it's a vital job. Still, social mobility works both ways, I suppose.

I was thinking about it from your family's point of view. Such a disappointment... <sigh>

Is this a clumsy attempt to appeal to the LGBTQTT++ as well as the Muslim community? (if there is one in Brighton).
