Apparently it's far less lethal than ornery flu, but much, much more catching, which is interesting. It seems designed to sift out the weak on a grand scale. Porto?

Its interesting everyone freaking out in the news and on line about this, when so many have YouTubed us into several 21st Century measles outbreaks yet are slagging off the response to the outbreak, really if you fight for the right for your child to get polio, you don't really have a leg to stand on criticizing how another disease is being handled.

It does seem to not be very lethal, and frankly 9000 people getting it in a couple of months in China doesn't make it sound particularly contagious. Perhaps I'm misjudging it but even if I were in Wuhan I wouldn't be very scared. Imagine if they did this for every strain of the flu?

They should just re-brand flu each year to make sure everyone gets their shots. Get it on the news that there's a new mutant viru coming out of [scary foreign place] that will kills tens of thousands, name it after a fizzy drink brand (Coronavirus, Fantavirus, Schweppesvirus, Rwhitesvirus, Pandapop virus, etc) , but they have a shot that will protect 70% of the public. The public will flock to the local pharmacy to get immunised.

Low mortality rate but it still could be serious, the thing is we don't know enough about it yet to say.
One positive is China sequenced the genetic code and made it public online for any drug company to try to develop a vaccine. In the old days (~5 years ago?) they would have had to collect and send out actual samples of it.

Symptoms of having the new Corona virus don't emerge until as long as 2 weeks have passed, and carriers are contagious as soon as they get it. That's the problem. On the bright side, if your lungs are sound you're unlikely to die. Apparently. link

Social media networks are taking steps to address false information about the coronavirus on their sites. Facebook, Twitter and TikTok are among the firms working to provide links to accurate information. The number of posts containing misinformation about the spread and alleged cures for the coronavirus has soared. LINK

you don't need to be a genius to figure out drinking bleach wont cure it, or using homeopathy or acupuncture won't help and that it really isn't a man made virus made by Bill Gates and Soros or bIg PHarMa or a Trojan horse from the government who want to use it to impose martial law or depopulate large swathes of the world or any number of the bullshit conspiracy theories that have sprung up about this.

you don't need to be a genius to figure out drinking bleach wont cure it,
that is most likely true, however I am not scared of someone claiming I need to drink bleach, I am more scared of someone silencing the one telling me to drink bleach

yeah, well sadly too many gullible types out there buying into this stuff, getting scammed, spreading fear for mischievous purposes and so on, I have no problem with a company wanting to keep the bullshit hosted on their platform to a minimum, and if you don't like it, there are plenty of places who thrive on posting made up bullshit such as Red State, Whats up With That and Info Wars and the like, so if that's your bent there's no real shortage is there.

yeah well there is only so much you can do to protect the world from gullible types,
wasn there a time when many lives in London would have been saved by a little bleach in the water?

you know there's a difference based on dilution don't you? I know your fellow Q Anon types are pushing the bleach cure, but really you shouldn't be so easily taken in Jim.

as memory serves me to treat water it is 1 or 2 drops for a gal, I have no idea what amount Q is suggesting, this is not reported to be a water problem though,
my point is that whatever Q is suggesting I would prefer he not be silenced, I would rather deal with a crazy then censorship,
