One other thing to take into consideration:
The type of people wot go to a gym - if they got the dreaded covid, would probably spend week in bed feeling like sh*t and then go back to work - or lockdown.

Yeah, but the problem isn't them. The problem is all the people they then meet and interact with. If they all only went to the gym and then went home and never saw another human it would be OK. But if they get infected, then literally everyone else they interact with is at risk. If they go into shops or doctors or dentists or hairdressers or restaurants after being in the gym with someone who had it, then all those businesses will have to isolate staff, deep clean, and potentially shut down for a couple of weeks. If they see their friends, their friends are going to be at risk and everyone their friends see is at risk. Are you going to be the one to apologise for killing your friends parents because you were so desperate to pump some iron and selfishly assumed that because you'll recover fast nothing and nobody else matters?

Yeah. I know I'm basically preaching to the choir. But I'm trying to hammer home wherever I can that being young and indestructible doesn't mean you can ignore health guidelines. Because shutting down your favourite businesses and killing your friends' parents is a crappy thing to do, and totally avoidable, and very very embarrassing when you have to admit it.

You're still a Brit Andy - no-one else would consider embarrassment a notable consequence!

I think even here "Sorry I killed your mum" is probably hard to say.

They're opening the casinos round here. Because they're largely unregulated because they're on native American reservation land, the state, county and city have little control and little ability to stop them.
They're making it "safe" by limiting gamblers to 3-to-a-table and turning off every other slot machine.
Absolutely nuts. The very last thing I'd open up, even after bars and gyms. But the tribes are totally dependent on the income from the casinos, so I can see why they're doing it. What I don't understand is the crazies who're actually using the casinos.

...and yet you watched the Dominic Cummins interview and concluded that it was him that was "Like a bug pinned to a board by the end"

People, we're fu**ed. Stop blaming people who want to save their jobs and feed their family. Stop accusing them of murder. If you want to live the rest of your life curled up in a corner of your basement living on a pittance the government gives you, more power to you. But not everyone wants that. Has anyone noticed that every time govts. give a goal to meet, when the goal is met, they move the goal posts? When the govts. run out of money, what the hell you going to do? Crawl on your knees and beg China for a loaf of bread? Wake up. No matter what we do, we're screwed. Open up? Disaster. Stay closed down? Disaster. The new normal. Best get used to it.

Typically selfish viewpoint. "I don't want to live curled up in my basement, I want to go out and infect everyone I can come into contact with and have them infect the people they're in contact with" is pure egomania. It's all about the individual without a moment's thought for the impact on anyone else. If you just had the decency to behave, and if state and federal government's had the decency to actually govern for their people, we could end up where South Korea or New Zealand are, and everyone could come out from their basements. But no, you're just so impatient and self-centered that you have to go and get your nails done or get hammered in a bar in the Ozarks today. Which means that everyone is f**k*d for months and months longer than they need to be.

Struth I head some Covidiot on the US news saying if it had a 99% survival rate, why are we locking down? The population estimate for the USA in 2019 was 328.2 million. Does anyone think 3.282 million dead is an unimportant statistic?
