Agreed, voice, my added concern being indeed that this lot is so mired in corrupt practices that it can no longer call it out, because some on their side can literally no longer see it as corrupt.

The rot often comes from the top, 13 years of a moarraly bankrupt government mired in corruption has its effect of all the institutions of state, and as we seeing more generally, on society itself. Nah, that's a cop-out. Civil Servants should be above this. It's understood.

When their bosses are corrupt and to such levels it's viewed as normal and the price to do business then that rot at the top effects all levels of society. To pretend otherwise is willfully self deluding

Factual. That's sort of the point of the arrangement. Believe in unicorns if it helps you cope.

That's the right all over, make a mess of everything then take no responsibility for it while blaming everyone else.

What does that even mean from someone who refuses to address the points I made simply blaming everyone else and taking zero responsibility. It's you are offering nothing, as per usual.

"The people who make the policies for how government runs are not responsible for how government runs." Ah, that's confusing government and the Government. I can see how that might be confusing for the SEN crowd.

Special, even by your standards. Are you saying that the Tory government are so sh*t that when they make policies about how the police are run, it has no effect on how the police are run?

The government doesn't decide the management of the Old Bill. That's just silly.
Are you saying that Rishi Sunak issued instructions that Chief Constables should all wear their brother's medals?
Come along, do.

Are you saying that the Home Secretary does nothing? That any time a political party claims to be a party of Lawn Order really the only thing that can do is mow the grass? That the Old Bill are entirely, fully, and completely independent entity uncontrolled and uncontrollable by policy or the public? There's a fair argument to be made that the police are entirely unaccountable, out of control, nation unto themselves, but it's not one usually made by people on the right.

Not at all, but you know that. Now. How about this? "The 27-year-old's death in April 2005 had been one of Scotland's most high-profile unsolved murders. Police have apologised for how the original inquiry was handled and for letting down Emma and other victims. Emma's family said she had been failed by police due to a "toxic culture of misogyny and corruption" which left Packer free to rape other women. The 51-year-old was found guilty of Emma's murder and 32 other charges including 11 rapes and multiple sexual assaults against a total of 22 women." www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-68304929Acting on James Blunkett's or Charles Clarke's instructions, do you think?

Why are American police so useless? Imagine being shot dead by the people coming to rescue you. It’s like they walk around in this permanent state of fear / agitation where everybody is a threat. Poor girl. amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/apr/01/california-police-video-shooting-15-year-old-girl-savannah-graziano“ Newly released law enforcement footage captures the moment California police fatally shot an unarmed 15-year-old girl who was a reported kidnapping victim. On 27 September 2022, San Bernardino county sheriff’s deputies were searching for Savannah Graziano, who was feared abducted by her father Anthony Graziano after he had fatally shot her mother the day before. Deputies cornered Anthony Graziano’s vehicle on the side of a freeway in Hesperia, 80 miles east of Los Angeles. When Savannah exited the vehicle, they opened fire and killed her. The shooting sparked national concern, with critics questioning how officers wound up killing the teenage girl they were tasked with rescuing. Sheriff’s officials claimed following the shooting that it was unclear whether Savannah was shot by deputies or her father, and they said deputies didn’t realize it was her when she got out of the car. For nearly two years, they refused to release footage of the shooting. But on Friday, the department disclosed nearly a dozen video files to the independent journalist Joey Scott, who filed records requests 18 months prior. The clips – which were shared with the Guardian and include helicopter footage – show deputies shooting at Savannah as she followed their instructions to move toward them. The videos also suggest deputies shot her after two officers remarked that it was the girl who exited. The footage, and the sheriff’s narration of the video, further make clear she was killed by deputies, not her father. The sheriff’s department declined to comment.“
