Hold on rick - hold on a moment. This bloke didn't say "destroy statues of Jesus". What he actually said was that he thought that they should destroy statues of Jesus represented as a white man. I think all this statue destroying is wrong - as I've said several times - but be careful of what you post. fair point. but i have seen statues of black Jesus. doesn't bother me. Jesus was not white or black. he was Jewish and 2000 years ago most likely had olive colored skin. but shaun king wants only white images of Jesus destroyed because white Jesus is a racist slave owner or something. Jesus was a Palestinian. Not one of these more recent inhabitants with a Polish father, like Binyamin Netanyahu. Jesus would have been rather dark-skinned, obviously. Something like this.  |

Jesus was not a Christian. After the death of Jesus, his cult evolved as a breakaway from Judaism. Jesus lived in a province of the Roman Empire. The main religions were Judaism and the worship of the Roman gods. Ethnically, the majority would be the natives with a minority of the occupying soldiers and administrators. Jesus, naturally, as the historical reconstruction shows, was a brown-skinned Middle-Eastern type. Binyamin Netanyahu and other Central and Eastern European types are the result of immigration in the 20th century.

Oddly, I kind of agree with Rick. Saying Jesus was Palestinian is a bit like the whole "St George was Turkish" thing. It may be a well-intentioned move to sabotage old racist and nationalist bollocks, but it just reinforces different nationalisms and doesn't really make sense. Jesus - if he existed at all - would have been a levantine Jew. Obviously not white, but also obviously not defined by modern nationality.

well obviously I'm incredible skeptical about the whole thing, being a rational atheist and all that. Still you can't apply logic to fairy tails is a waste of times, you can't counter myth and superstition with reason most times as people haven't used reason to arrive at thinking what they do.
