damn right i'm paranoid about it. only a fool wouldn't be. and i share my paranoia with very good company. you write this off as science fiction. todays science fiction more often than not becomes tomorrows reality.

Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

Here's an article that would back up Rick's paranoid position:
already posted an article about the letter. and they're right.

"Many believe that if a robot is able to pass the Turing Test, the ability of a machine to think like a human, then it should be given human rights. In one case, Sophia, a human-like robot imbued with AI and facial recognition, has already been granted complete citizenship in Saudi Arabia. Sophia is just one step in the climb of robots becoming self-aware and developing a human conscious."
So, I read about a robot in Saudi Arabia having human rights, and it's FEMALE?
I'm still asleep...

Why worry - if the truth be known, we're robots anyway. What's happening is very interesting; trust humans to get fearful about progress.

Man ends his life after an AI chatbot encouraged him to sacrifice himself to stop climate change"A Belgian man reportedly ended his life following a six-week-long conversation about the climate crisis with an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot." "According to his widow, who chose to remain anonymous, *Pierre - not the man’s real name - became extremely eco-anxious when he found refuge in Eliza, an AI chatbot on an app called Chai." "Eliza consequently encouraged him to put an end to his life after he proposed sacrificing himself to save the planet." www.euronews.com/next/2023/03/31/man-ends-his-life-after-an-ai-chatbot-encouraged-him-to-sacrifice-himself-to-stop-climate-we need more non-stop doomsday climate porn, right?

Sad for his family but I think anyone persuaded to commit suicide after a conversation with a chatbot, already had some serious mental health issues. If you're looking for a reason to end it all, you'll find one. Interestingly (to me at least), Eliza was the name of the original interactive language program, from the 1960's. Written in just a few kilobytes of code, many users were convinced it was a real person they were conversing with.
To be fair, an artificial interlocutor would have seemed like magic to many, back then.

eliza was the crowd of people on the ground who see a man standing on the ledge of a 5 story building who start chanting jump, jump, jump.
and there are scads of people, some adults, probably mostly young people who are being scared witless by the non-stop drumbeat from the climate porn industry.

It's like something out of a sci-fi movie. I mean, it's not really surprising though, right? With all the advancements in AI development, it was only a matter of time before we started seeing this kind of thing. And it's not just in the military either, AI is being used in all kinds of fields to make things more efficient and accurate. But of course, there are always going to be concerns about AI development and its potential consequences. We've got to be careful about how we use this technology and make sure it's being used ethically and responsibly.

Increasingly, agents and publishers are refusing unsolicited MS because some 'writers' are presenting ChatGPT examples. You can tell pretty quickly the AI stuff, but it still wastes their time.
