What's needed is a proper brexity move to the right. Ditch the woke pish. The Tories need to highlight their innate decency. Etc.

the way things are going it might take such a drastic action to get the focus off tory corruption and ineptitude.

Hard to find the figures for the BBC's in-house party, but Labour suffered a -12.4% swing.
Nothing to crow about for Starmer. He not only failed to make progress, he actually went backwards.
No need to panic. This was a protest vote. No more than that. It happens.

Military strength only, as formulated by some teenage Call of Duty wonks. Not quite the same thing as being discussed in the article.

Biggest election defeat in history for the Tories, or the Con Party, as we can call it. The mad farce of having Boris Clown as prime minister is coming to an end.
North Shropshire by-election: We've brought new hope to the whole nation - Ed Davey
New MP Helen Morgan secured a majority of 5,925 - on a 34% swing to the Lib Dems, with a turnout of 46.2%. The Conservatives had held the seat for nearly 200 years. (BBC news)

The people of North Shropshire are fed up with the Tories.
So at the by election they wanted to tell them off.
But they couldn't bring themselves to vote Labour - so they voted Lib Dem.
Knowing full well that come the General Election they'll go back to the Tories.

Amazingly, this is actually a worse result for Labour and the BBC.

The Con Party will have a new leader at the next election. The current incumbent has been a disaster for the country by 'getting Brexit done'. Now that Johnson's lying, incompetence and corruption have become a disaster for the Tories, they'll be looking for somebody who's not such a glaringly obvious fraud. That won't be hard. But somebody who puts the country ahead of the Party and personal advantage wouldn't have great appeal to Tory voters. Rees-Mogg? Sunak with his billionaire family connections? Any suggestions?

Oooh .... there are so many to choose from Bert. So many.
Rishi or Liz. Maybe Tom Tugendhat.
Boris has played a skipper's innings and brought on some proper talent.
How's it going with your team?

Funny that Bert finds "knowing wealthy people" suspicious.
What a knob.

Boris is like Churchill, a great man at the right time but now might be the time for a change. He heroically got Brexit done against the forces of feucism and it now looks like he's on the way to defeating covid for the world. The Tories have immense strength in depth so plenty to choose from. I like Liz although Kemi is a good outside bet. The even more Sunlit Uplands beckon.

The Tories are utterly, utterly crushed, completely divided, are fully aware of their own incompetence. It’s time for them to do the right thing and stand aside. Rather than waste time having a general election, the Tory MPs should just vote to install Caroline Lucas as PM.

Rishi Sunak's elite background doesn't suggest he has the interests of the ordinary voter at heart. Starting off with his schooldays at a very expensive private school and continuing with a get richer and richer career in the finance business. Onwards and upwards till he becomes a director of a hedge fund, owned by his wife's father, multi-billionaire Indian businessman and fellow Hindu, N. R. Narayana Murthy.
