Lest we forget ... 'Corruption review finds 'red flags' in more than 130 COVID contracts' : Tories. Corruption. Cronyism. Sleaze. 'Nuff said ...- £15.3bn in COVID contracts awarded by the then Conservative government - 28 contracts worth £4.1bn went to firms with known political connections - 51 contracts worth £4bn went through an illegal 'VIP lane' for companies recommended by MPs and peers - Eight contracts worth a total of £500m went to suppliers no more than 100 days old Mind you, a Conservative spokesperson said, “Government policy was in no way influenced by the donations the party received – they are entirely separate.” So that's alright then.

"However, the judge also concluded that it was likely that the contracts in question would have been awarded to the same companies with or without the VIP lane, and the court chose not to grant declaratory relief to the claimants"
Also, unlawful, not illegal.

Can you tell us what the objective would have been had the Government tendered the contracts to companies who had already said that they could not supply the goods?

"An anti-corruption charity says it has identified significant concerns"
Mmmmmm .....damning. I wonder if they'll be looking into the VIP access given to the Trades Unions and the Labour Government's recent largesse in connection with pay awards, eh?

Glad you agree that it's helpful to be reminded of how they were such a shitshow that it's impossible to tell if they were corrupt or useless.

Clearly both.
Though it's funny seeing Baloo whipping up a weak source about unions to try and deflect.

Funny to see how the Left can't cope with the exposure of Labour as utterly shite.

Mel Stride is out, unsurprisingly.
Jenrick retains top spot, more surprisingly.
1 Jenrick - 33 votes (up 5 on round 1) 2 Bad Enoch - 28 votes (up 6) 3 "Clever"ly - 21 votes (no change) 4 Tom Sensible Hat - 21 votes (up 4)
-
5 Melanie S - 16 votes (no change, eliminated)

I wonder what the Labour Party's top picks would look like? I bet that Corbyn would still be in it, along with both Milibands and Greville Janner.

Mel Stride had to go. He was re-elected in July in his Central Devon constituency albeit with a majority of only 161 votes on a turnout of 53,000. This is shocking compared to the election in '19 when his majority was over 17,000.
Seems like if you can't command a realistic mandate locally, then running your party - even less so the country - just ain't for you.

I don't agree with Mogg's logic but you clearly didn't read what he wrote.
Anyway, Bedenoch only had a 2k vote margin, Jenrick and Cleverly a 3k vote margin. Only Tugendhat, with 11k, had a decent majority.

No, it was fair comment. No popular. Mandate.
