My youngest just found out he has two offers for uni in September, so he's a bit relieved, still waiting on a couple of others, but he's pretty sorted. Well done to the lad. What's he going to study?

Poor soul. Indoctrination and mediocrity looms. Ah, the voice of a PhD from the University of Life.

Oh, I do. I'm no fan of the uni system particularly.

Yeah, I think we've had this conversation before... unless it's a decent uni etc.

He's been accepted at Vancouver Island University and University of the Fraser Valley to study Theater (Acting for the Stage and Screen) So a life making noncey over-sweet coffees at Starbucks beckons.

Oh I dunno, sounds like ideal training for Justin's government.
Anyway, good luck to him.

What can you do. Though tbh there is a massive film and television industry in Vancouver, I know loads of people who work in some aspect of it, lots of big films are made here such as the X-man films dead pool all the planet of the apes ones (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Films_shot_in_Vancouver), and loads of big production or long running TV series are made here, X-Files BSG (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Television_series_produced_in_Vancouver) and you can make a decent living here just being a journeyman extra playing small rolls.
Anyway he's quite realistic, his degree will get him into teaching pretty easy, as that's his plan B.

Yeah, I was actually going to say that if you were going to be a Actorrrrr! there's probably no better place than BC right now given that large amounts of US films and telly are made over the border, and people are even actually watching Canadian made show now, too.
But then I realised that being nice wasn't my job. Sarcasm was.

Good for him. Chasing what he loves instead of doing a tedious miserable job for 40 years. An old uni mate of mine did Electrical and Electronic engineering to please his dad. After some miserable years working in his field he quit, moved to Italy and became an Opera singer. And he is fairly successful.

Full marks to anyone who steps out of the box. Society itself is programmed to program. Nothing evil about it, it's just that way.

The moral of Van’s story seems to be that you don’t need to train to become an opera singer. You should go to university to study something dreary but useless as a fallback.

The missus has inadvertently proven a theory of mine.
I had never had a cauliflower crust pizza because the idea was horrific.
People who didn't enjoy food or who hadn't eaten pizza in years had claimed to me that "Cauliflower crust is a good as real pizza. And it's a great diet food."
The missus brought a cauliflower crust pizza which we just tried for lunch.
My theory has been proven correct.
The theory was: Cauliflower crust pizza is not as good as real pizza. It's a great diet food because it's nasty and you just don't want to eat much of it.

I don't understand what it is or how it's even possible. A cauliflower is the wrong shape for a pizza.
