It's blowing a blizzard here, I was so looking forward to going out for a walk to the local shops, TAXI!!!! Very toasty here. I would have gone to the beach if it was closer.

Really? Have you been there? You'll be pleased to hear that I have promised myself never, ever to go there again if it can be avoided. IKEA or not. Yep, many times. It’s cheap and convenient.

It's certainly cheap in the context of SE England, but there's a reason for that. It's a f**k**g ghetto and the people are thuggish arseholes.

WKC lives nearby, behind a sturdy gate, I would imagine. I would be surprised if he spends many nights out there.
It is a truly horrible place. And very violent, unsurprisingly.

Good idea, I live close to the beach here, and there's also a stunning large park with a beautiful landscape, but I'm not allowed to walk there without one of my sons, they keep telling me 'its not safe mam' . I am so thick

Croydon was always a shithole, but got much worse. Bromley, Kent, which is now also a shithole, used to be quite civilised. Spot the link.

If god was ever thinking of giving the UK an enema that's where he would stick the hose.
Fortunately I live quite a long way south of Croydon.

I remember taking a wrong turn into a sink estate nearby - Addington? - it was like Hell. Boarded up pubs, feral youth, burned out cars.

New Addington - when first built was known as Little Siberia. A bit better now - but not much.

Isn’t Croydon called “The Manhattan of the Suburbs” because of its mighty skyscrapers and murder rate?

No it's known as Croydon.
So awful they named it once.

There you go Van. Location, location, location. Don't expect too great a return on your investment.

Croydon is cheap though. London is outside of my price range so it would have to be somewhere cheaper but as near to London as possible. I remember I think it’s East Croydon train station is just a quick journey to London Bridge.

And the reality is even in Croydon, the price on a place (in the right part) will only increase. I know tons of people who got onto the property ladder via Croydon and were / are fine.

Of course, there's the question of whether we ever go back to the office, innit? Our company is almost wholly Zoomtastic now and all of our systems are run remotely.
Apart from a few wholly unnecessary jollies there should be no need to visit clients either. I'm hoping for a trip to the Crossrail hole or Hinkley C power station. No need of course, but a nice run ashore.

They are nothing like the Kray twins, lol
