"The firm run by Mr Tindall – who is married to the Queen’s granddaughter Zara Tindall – has “taken advantage of all available Government aid in order to support the business” during the pandemic, accounts have shown. But the ex-sportsman, who is thought to be worth several million pounds, was said to have caused “reputational damage” to the monarchy."

Pfft! Reputational damage, indeed. Only in the eyes of envious non-entities.

Indeed. It's all par for the course for the monarchy. Can't understand why people worry about things that will never change. They need to be more philosophical about it.

I don't think you could characterise Mike Tindall as being part of the monarchy. He is a private individual married to a member of the royal family who receives nothing from the Royal List.

Of course. I doubt if he gains any benefit at all from being married to a Royal.

I would imagine that it's a mixed blessing, judging by the divorce rate.

Do royals have a higher divorce rate than the general population?

No idea. Or interest.

As an epidemiologist, can you be a little more precise?

Let's not bore one another withe Charles and Di souvenir tea towel talk. Just as a measure, look at ERII's brood: all 3 Charles divorced, Anne dicorced, Andy divorced, Edward as screaming bender in a marriage of convenience a la Michael Barrimore. At best, that's a 75% failure rate. What's the UK average?

Oh. Over the last, what, 30/40 years? So half a dozen, then Edward VIII, and Prince George in 1820, and HenryVIII. About ten in 500 years or so. One every 50 years. I'd imagine the public divorce rate's a bit higher than that.

I think my metric is fair. I don't think you can expect them to match the cumulative divorces of the British public since Good King Hal.
