Haha! What a bellend. "Musician Rufus Wainwright has blamed Brexit for the failure of his Sheridan Smith musical Opening Night. The West End show, described by the Telegraph as “a pretentious, convoluted mess”, was forced to close two months early and there were reports of audience walk-outs. According to Wainwright, who wrote the music and lyrics for the show, British audiences have a narrower outlook post-Brexit and lack curiosity. They were unreceptive to the avant garde production, an adaptation of a 1977 John Cassavetes film, whereas European audiences welcomed it, he said. Wainwright, a Canadian-American who lives in Los Angeles, told the Guardian: “I do feel that, since Brexit, England has entered into a darker corridor where it is a little more narrow in its outlook. “The vitriol because we put ‘English rose Sheridan Smith’ through this ordeal of European theatre felt a little bit suspect to me.” He went on: “There’s a lack of imagination and curiosity about change. All of the reviews from Europe were incredible for this piece; the staging and the rhythm is more European and there was a vitriolic reaction against that." www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/05/07/rufus-wainwright-blames-brexit-for-opening-night-flop/

Jee-zus! That's your typical remainer right there. His problem is, of course, that your average Brexiteer would never have gone to see something like that in the first place so he must mean that remain types have become ("become?" Ed) narrower in their outlook.

I saw his dad at Glastonbury many years ago. Now he was a talented musician if not exactly to my taste.

Eau deur! The anti-democracy EU streukes again. "The European Commission has warned that the Netherlands 'cannot opt out of EU legislation' and bring in its 'strictest-ever' asylum policy, despite the new government pledging to do so. The newly agreed Dutch coalition government wants a new immigration policy that will see people removed from the European country 'by force' - setting up a clash with leaders in Brussels even before it has taken office. The 26-page coalition agreement emerged early this morning after six months of greulling talks between four parties following last years' stunning election victory by Geert Wilders, the long-time Euro-sceptic and leader of the far centre-Right PVV party." www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13427291/Brussels-warns-Netherlands-opt-EU-rules-strict-asylum-policy.html

I think they mistyped “Geert Wilders stunning election defeat where over 75% of the electorate rejected him in a proportional system”

No. PR is great. Wilders massive defeat means he’s had to compromise and weaken on all of his abhorrent positions.

The left just hate voting in general. They prefer dictatorship e.g., the EU.
