True. The former UCE in Brum was by all accounts a terrible uni. But their fashion school was apparently fantastic.

Kinda related to Schrödinger's Cat, his position appears to be both in favour and not in favour (at one and the same time) of experts, university graduate degrees, university post-grad degrees etc. Thing is, we’ll not have a clue of his “current” position at any time till some other input is made to this rather arcane system - but then neither will he.

Playing both sides of an argument at the same time and then claiming some kind of victory is something that the likes of Aristotle and Socrates warned Ancient Greek society about thousands of years ago; it’s a poor substitute for genuine argument as all it tends to highlight is the restatement of an entrenched position.

Eh? Aston's one of the lesser universities. Where has this mental idea that it's a top uni come from? Sometimes these smaller universities specialise in one area and are good at that e.g., UWE do urban planning type stuff well but generally speaking you'd want to aim higher if you can.
