We took the ferry from Cherbourg to Rosslare, easier and quicker than Calais/Dover/Fishguard/Rosslare. Can't see the issue really except for the rip-off costs of Cherbourg/Rosslare ferry which are balanced by the time saved.

Ah, the rip-off costs, eh? Sounds like this might just be "the costs" don't you think?

It's the road traffic that's the bummer. Both UK and Ireland. Pollution-free air travel reqd.

But expensive, yeah? Not sure shoppers in Eire care whether their groceries had a nice trip.
Bottom line.

You're probably right. The crossing can be rough too, but that applies either way. But the restaurant onboard is very good, and the cafes not bad, which makes it all worthwhile, especially if you also have a cabin away from the fruit machine playing, Guinness drinking hordes.

Yeah, great being holed up in the winter with bears scratching at the door.

Brexit's rubbish, isn't it? I've got literally nothing from it yet. Not one thing. Not a solid gold speedboat. Not a winter dacha outside St Petersburg. Not even a Marathon or a pack of Opal Fruits like we were promised when we were told we'd no longer have to kowtow to foreign overlords dictating homogeneity to us.

I like Canada and Canadians generally. Used to live there. Don't know if I've mentioned it. Do you have the blue plate thing over there?

If you travel due South from the city of Detroit what's the first country you come to?
