I'm not defining trans people for you. But the most simple thing is that they're people who have gender dysmorphia and live their lives as a gender they weren't assigned at birth.
A bloke who lives his life as a bloke but puts on a dress to abduct a girl is just a man.

Ah! Fair enough. I hadn't read through the article that far down. Because it refers to him as "dressed as a woman" earlier rather than "identifying as a woman" I assumed that him dressing as a woman was the pertinent part of the story.
All that said, I have strong doubts about how much he actually ever identified as a woman
