PR 101. The idea of inventing pronouns seems ridiculous. Pronouns don’t need to define how you act / dress / present. But I don’t get why gender is required on passports. It’s not like they check that what is marked is what you are. Is there any solid reason why it needs to be stated. |

Well, quite. The BBC report said that the plaintiffs had made the case that it seemed unjustifiable that the state that had been happy to pay for this bloke to become a thing should not recognise that condition on its passport.
Disgraceful in so many ways.

It would be like having addresses on passports. I am not sure what the need is. How would an additional option of M/F/X make things difficult? The photo seems absolutely necessary but I am not clear on what the gender is used for. |

While I'm happy to go along with anyone's request for whatever bizarre pronouns they choose - and refusing to use those pronouns once you know them seems to be deliberately arseholeish - people who make up their own pronouns rather than just using they/them, he/him, she/her do seem to be screaming "ME ME LOOK AT ME! I AM SPECIALLY DIFFERENT FROM ANYONE ELSE I WANT MY OWN PRONOUN THAT NOBODY ELSE HAS!!!" |
