It's a one way thing, they get rides home, though a surprising number peddle back to Vancouver.
Yes it is a very beautiful highway some good bendy bits I tried getting my knee down, but never did. And it's quite an achievement these riders manage some very steep climbs. (The more insane ones do a detore up Cypress mountain and back as well)
Doesn't mean it's not a real pain in the arse for everyone else

Largest Granfondo - which seems like a weird definition. There are larger 100 mile rides - El Tour De Tucson has around 10,000 I think, as does the Tour De Palm Springs, and those are just two that I've done. Anyway, I"m sure it's annoying but it's not like you can't plan for the one day the road is safe for cyclists when it's safe for drivers the other 364 days.

Spent a wonderful afternoon at the National Portrait Gallery which I have never visited before.
I wanted to see an exhibition that was sold out but spent the time with the floor on the English monarchy, noble people of the time and the room on radicals. Great stuff. Highly recommend. Also interesting to listen in on some of the conversations and realise that our history curriculum is not what I thought it was (I overheard a foreign woman explaining to a young English guy she was with, that Elizabeth I was Henry VIII’s daughter. He had no idea.)

You should also visit the National Landscape Gallery.

Surely Henry VIII's daughter would be Elizabeth VIII? Isn't that how surnames work in Britain?

No, the new monarch takes on his/her Christian/ First name and as she was the first Queen to be called Elisabeth she was called Elisabeth I. Her dad was the 8th Henry. I'm pretty sure you know this.

I did the 10k. It was quite enjoyable. Driving back it started raining and it was some of the heaviest rain I've seen. There was a lot of flooding on the roads.

Beautiful, almost windless, sunny day in West Sussex today. 16 miler with Dad down to the beach first thing. Saw an Osprey. An osprey! Sussex!
Everything that floats was out on the sea, and there were loads of people swimming. Had a nice coffee on the point and cycled back.
Came home, had a sandwich with a friend from the old country who's down for a day of charity shopping with Mrs B at Emmaus (QV). Had them drop me off in Shoreham and I walked home the six or seven miles home along the river with the dogs.
Thai curry tonight. My feet hurt, as my very smart Italian walking shoes are pretty unforgiving.

Looking after a dog.
This is tiring. How do people do this full time?

Two. They're wonderful beings. I love walking and being outdoors, so dogs just suit our lifestyle and bring great happiness and wellbeing to both parties.
They're not for everyone, but they are ace. You're underdressed without a dog where I live.

Oh that's easy. You can kick a dog and they can't even report you to social services.
Not like pesky children.

Or servants.

Also, you don't have to have a dog that needs crazy amounts of exercise. Neither of mine do, but they'll take any amount of walkies if offered.

Nice morning here. Cooled off a bit so today's 45 mile ride wasn't too hot and sweaty. Clouds gone, 25C now. Stopped at Bad Hombres for a burrito on the way home. Delicious, but now I'm going to be unable to do anything for the rest of the day as I try and digest it all.

Been driving all day it seems, up to the new house meeting contractors and organising the work
We walked the property with the dog, the orchard needs some work, but there's a shed I can convert for the chickens and an area for the hives. 4 weeks 3 days then we'll be there

Very lazy day today. Yesterday I ran 10 miles in the morning, helped out at the church fete in the afternoon and went to see Blackberry Smoke in the evening. I was knackered when I got in.

It’s the attention and needing to structure your life around them that is tiring. Luckily owner is back now. I need a few months break before I dogsit again!
